Cajón del Maipo

This weekend we made a little trip to the Cajón del Maipo, it's a very nice and very peaceful place. We went there because we wanted to see the snow, and snow was what we got, so as you may guess this week brings more white pictures.

This is the first picture was taken in the way there and I love the trees in the front, and the snow in the back. We think this are walnut trees, but since this are quite small I'm not sure, yet again, based on the way they sell nuts there it seems really possible.

This is what we really went there for:

Sea lion and other pictures

So yesterday I uploaded the picture I promised but that was not the this weeks pictures, but I was way too tired to try and chose this weeks pictures.

On Sunday we went to the sea and found this series of beautiful cities, the fist one was San Antonio that is second or third ports of Chile. The thing that really fascinated me was the sea lions. They are used to on the rocks next to the fish market.

Here you can see a close up that I managed to take from this sea lion as it was barking, this kind of pictures is one of the reasons why I like my 28-200 so much.

After that we went to Isla Negra to see one of the houses of Pablo Neruda. His house in there is really something, but there is a no photo policy. But down at the beach I found this rock formation being hit by the sea and wanted to share this whit you. It shows some of the might of the Pacific ocean.

Finally when we were heading back to Santiago we got this beautiful sunset while we where on the highway.

See you next week.

Update

As promised I took the picture of the Andes really covered in snow. After a week of cold days and some heavy rain on Thursday on Friday I finally got this picture where you got this really clear sky, the snow and the city.

I hope you like it.

Andes and Vineyard

This weekend we had some great light, so today I want to share this picture with you.

As you can see the snow is almost completely gone due to the warm weather we have enjoyed lately, but if the forecasts are correct tomorrow we shall see a change tomorrow, I'll try to take this same picture with a snow blanket, but what really caught my attention was the light that gives depth to the picture.

The other picture I want to share is this one taken in a vineyard that I visited today. I found it a little bit surprising to see grapes still in the vine this late in the season, but according to the guide the vintage season is almost over, but not just yet. I thought it was left on the vine to make some late harvest wine, but apparently this is not the case.

I love how the almost dead leafs contrast with the color of the grapes. The effect would be even better if instead of cabernet suavignon this were a carménère vine with its beautiful (and characteristic) red leaves.

I hope you enjoy this weeks pictures.

Centro Artesanal los Dominicos

I have tow pictures I want to share with you. Today we had a nice warm day so we went to "Centro Artesanal los Dominicos".

There is a craft market with a lot of jewelry, some wood work, and a lot of birds sold as pets. They had some really beatifull birds, and I took some pictures, but there is something about caged animals that just ruins the picutre.

I specially liked this picture where you can see the entrance of the market with the Andes behind, you can see that there is a lot less snow than in last week's post, this is due to the warm week we had and the lack of rain, still the mountains look beautiful
.
The other picture I wanted to share with you is this one of this cat that was sleeping on the sun. I really like cats, and this one is really peaceful.

Have a nice week.

Starting

I have been procrastinating this blog for ever, but I finally had to launch it. The basic idea here is to have a place to share some of my photos, probably nobody will care about it, but at least I'll have a good excuse to force me take my camera out more often. I hope you enjoy the ride.

And as my first post I have a picture taken this weekend while I was discovering my new city.

See ya.
